Here we have a rather lovely 4" Scale Atkinson An absolute cracker of a model this. We steamed it up and down the yard today and it is one of the nicest steam road models that we've ever had come through. It's whisper quiet mechanically until you put some load behind it and then it settles into a really satisfyingly loud and regular bark that is not a million miles away from the full size one,..... and by load,.... I mean we had it towing a Ford S Max people carrier up and down the yard which it did with considerable ease. Fast too,..... geared to make sure you can easily keep up, even over take all the full size traction engines on the way to the pub.
It's an interesting model this. Clearly essentially an Atkinson, but when the builder at first made the uniflow engine, he found it not to his liking, so he threw that engine away and made a brand new power unit in the form of a scaled down Sentinel engine. Which as described above,.... works beautifully!
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
